A CHINESE man appeared in court yesterday facing a theft charge for allegedly stealing US$212 165 from his employer.
The suspect, Wang Zhiming (29), faces a charge of theft of trust property.
He was remanded in custody to today by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi for bail application.
State prosecutor Thomas Chanakira alleged that on May 22, the complainant conducted an audit of the company’s financial accounts and discovered that US$212 165 was missing.
The money had been deposited into the company’s accounts by clients for services rendered between January 2022 and February 2024.
The court heard that Wang converted the money to personal use.
