A HARARE man, who was searching for a  job as a domestic worker, is behind bars for stealing a firearm from his prospective employer.

The suspect, Romeo Muzira (27), was remanded in custody to tomorrow by Harare magistrate Dennis Mangosi for bail application.

Prosecutor Thomas Chanakira said on May 10, Muzira went to the complainant’s place of residence in Chadcombe seeking work as a gardener, but the complainant indicated that she had no job to offer.

Muzira left, but returned later and gained entry to the house and stole a Special Astra 250 revolver firearm with two rounds of ammunition.

He also stole a Lenovo laptop, umbrella, wrist watch, US$15 and G-tel cellphone.

He faces another charge of contravening the Firearms Act after he was arrested trying to sell the firearm.
