MUTARE-based sungura musician, Brian Samaita, was involved in a road accident on Saturday night at Christmas Pass near the eastern border city of Mutare.
The multi-award winning musician and businessman told NewsDay that he survived death by a whisker.
Samaita said a Toyota Corolla coming from the direction of Mutare towards Harare, rammed into a Volkswagen (VW) vehicle which swerved into the lane of on-coming vehicles causing the accident.
“I was involved in a head-on collision around midnight (Saturday). I’m alive, please ignore other news circulating. A Toyota Corolla coming (towards) Christmas Pass failed to stop and hit a VW which was in front of it, then it swerved coming into my lane as I was driving in the opposite direction,” said Samaita.
He said he suffered minor head injuries and is being treated at an undisclosed private hospital.
Images shared by Samaita showed his seriously damaged Mercedes Benz.

“I want to thank the Lord that I am still alive ,” Samaita told NewsDay.
The musician said the accident would not stop him from recording his five-track album due for release this year.
The businessman and music promoter said he would do shows in neighbouring Mozambique and Malawi to promote the album.
