THE Anglican Diocese of Manicaland says it is ready for the 2025 educational year, with indications that their enrolment programme went on smoothly for new classes.

The diocese runs 54 schools in the province, both primary and secondary.

Some of the signature schools they run are St Augustine, St Faith and St Mathias Tsonzo, among other schools.

Diocese bishop Eric Ruwona confirmed the development to NewsDay Tuesday.

“We are ready for the opening of all our schools. Officials are on the ground to ensure a smooth opening of all our schools, both primary and secondary,” he said.

“For those who are attending boarding schools, many have since travelled to school starting Monday using our school buses and we were praying that no accidents would be reported.”

Added Ruwona: “Our enrolment exercise went on very well. We have Form One and Lower Sixth students who are starting in new classes and they are hoping for the best possible start to the new term.”

Most of the diocese schools last year performed well in the Ordinary and Advanced Level examination results.

The diocese secretary Edmund Samutereko said they have done well to complement government efforts to improve education in the country.

The diocese has since begged the government to avail more land for them so they can build more schools in the province.

He said they are happy with preparations by most of its schools.

“Authorities are on the ground ahead of the schools opening and they have since reported to me that they are ready for the schools opening,” he added.

“I am happy that the church, as part of its vision, started schools. What we call the Diocese of Manicaland has more than 200 schools started by the church.”
