RENOWNED author Marjorie Chikoore delivered a poignant and powerful tribute to her late husband, Reverend Christopher Chikoore, at his graveside in Masvingo recently.

Despite her grief, Chikoore’s words inspired and uplifted all who listened.

A respected man of cloth, Reverend Chikoore battled bacterial meningitis and a stroke before passing away on December 15.

Marjorie shared the details of his illness and final days with courage and vulnerability.

As she reflected on their life together, Marjorie offered wisdom and insights on building a strong and loving marriage.

Her 22-point speech was a masterclass in relationships, covering topics such as trust, intimacy, communication and the importance of prioritising one’s spouse.

“Value the spouse you have. Don’t take them for granted. Trust each other . . . Be a queen and king to your spouse: Serve them by prioritising their well-being,” Marjorie urged.

With disarming candor, the author shared intimate details about her own marriage, emphasising the importance of honouring one’s spouse’s desires and needs.

“Intimacy should feel right for both of you. Be willing to fulfil your spouse’s desires, even when it’s not your preference. It’s about honouring each other’s needs and desires. Sometimes, put your own desires aside,” added the transformational coach.

“Commit to one partner and live life together to the fullest. Spend quality time together, serve together, and make an effort to know and appreciate each other’s likes and preferences.”

As she concluded her tribute, Marjorie defined love as a universal language that transcends even death.

Her words will undoubtedly inspire and motivate others to nurture their own relationships and cherish the time they have with loved ones.

“Love your spouse’s relatives. Love your children and grandchildren wholeheartedly . . . Keep your marriage vows ‘til death do us apart’. Leave your earthly affairs in order for your family,” Chikoore said, her voice filled with conviction and emotion.
