IN a bold move to raise awareness on the plight of elephants, a group of local actors has created a thought-provoking drama which educates people on the conservation of elephants.
Simunye: The Spirit of Africa has become a popular drama in Victoria Falls and is acted out so as to show the beauty of Africa and also promote the conservation of elephants by communities.
Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Simunye: The Spirit of Africa production manager Tariro Mushonga said the drama portrayed a strong message about conservation of elephants and the togetherness of people of Africa.
“The drama is an ongoing show that started on September 6, 2023. The show brings together humans and elephants. The show can only be watched at Victoria Falls inside the Victoria Falls Theatre,” Mushonga said.
“The show mostly highlights the conservation of elephants, culture and Ubuntu that we portray as Africans. This is through music, puppetry, dance and visuals, delivering a powerful message of love and togetherness.”
It was also highlighted that the show attracted both locals and tourists from different countries.
“The drama consists of local actors as a way of promoting and showcasing local talent,” Mushonga said.
