GOSPEL sensation Shupikai Magaso has penned a book titled, What the future holds, as she expands her reach in tackling social issues.
“I love to write about family life, love stories, features and real life stories. This has inspired me today and shaped my career as a writer,” Magaso told NewsDay Life & Style.
“In the book I am writing about a farm girl who got the opportunity of getting love from a city boy and later destroyed that opportunity because of pride such that her ending was very miserable and full of regrets. Trying again to regain her marriage and all she had, but to no avail, ending up at the farm where she began.”
She said the community had received the book “with great enthusiasm and empathy”.
“Many have resonated with Tazvi's story, acknowledging the destructive power of pride and the importance of humility and love,” the author said.
“Some have shared their own experiences, echoing the struggles and triumphs of the characters. The book has sparked meaningful conversations and reflections, fostering a sense of community and connection.

Writing the book had its own challenges. One was the emotional toll of delving into the complexities of human relationships and the consequences of pride, she said.
“At times, it felt like I was reliving Tazvi's struggles and it took a lot of self-care to maintain my own emotional well-being. Another challenge was ensuring that the story remained authentic and true to the experiences of women in Zimbabwe, while also making it relatable to a broader audience".
Magaso message to women writers is that their voices matter.
“Your stories are crucial to the fabric of our society and your perspectives are unique and valuable. Do not be afraid to share your truths, even if they are difficult or uncomfortable. Embrace your experiences and use them to inspire and uplift others,” she said.
Born and raised in Kuwadzana township in Banket, Mashonaland West province and living in Kariba, Magaso (55) has been in the music industry for years.
She has shared the stage with most popular musicians like Carol Mujokoro, Ivy Kombo, Baba naMai Charamba and Agartha Murudzwa, among others.
She also had collaborations with Murudzwa, Bethen Pasinawako Ngolomi, Amanda Sangonda, Namatai Chinyerere and Brandon Japajapa.
