BY TATENDA KUNAKA HARARE-BASED agronomist Rudolf Mabuya (28) recently launched a clothing brand Farmfit Luxury Wear for agricultural personnel.
The clothing range has overalls, waistcoats, shirts, shorts, shirt-dresses, T-shirts and sun hats.
The youthful agronomist told NewsDay Life & Style that the apparel is for both office and field wear.
“Zimbabwe’s economy is agro-based and it contributes a lot to the economy. So, with Farmfit Luxury Wear, we are saying people in that industry must look presentable both on the field and when conducting business off-field,” he said.
“Farming is a business and people in the industry should look presentable all the time. They must dress fashionably, that is why I decided to design apparels that suit their sector.”
He added: “Agriculture is a major contributor to the gross domestic product (GDP) of the country, the brand will contribute to value addition and beneficiation of the agriculture value chain industry”.
Mabuya said he was inspired by his farming background and entrepreneur-cum-Nash Paints founder Tinashe Mutarisi.
“I have noted that many people find it difficult to dress for the occasion in the agriculture value chain, especially on field days and when doing farm business. That experience has inspired me to design clothes specifically for them,” he said.

“I decided to venture into the fashion world to solve their problems. I am hoping to host the second launch before year end which I believe will be better and will be graced by the fashion gurus and stakeholders in the agricultural sector.”
