BY TERRY MADYAUTA Swimmers from Bulawayo province are brimming with confidence ahead of the National Senior Swimming Championships to held in Harare at the weekend.
A total of 52 swimmers from Bulawayo will participate in the championships with the hope of winning in all categories starting from Under 13s.
Yesterday, they received a massive boost from the Bulawayo (BASA), which donated swimming kits.
BASA chairperson Phawulani Ngwenya is confident that the swimmers will reciprocate the gesture by winning at the national championships.
“At the moment, we have 52 swimmers who are going to take part in the upcoming senior national championships in Harare and all I can say is that they are more than ready and they have been working hard, so we expect them to do well,” Ngwenya said.
“We have been working hard for this gala, so I am confident that we will leave an indelible mark. We want to raise the Bulawayo flag high and make sure that we bring home dozens of medals.”
Meanwhile, national team coaches are expected to use the championships as a platform to scout for prospective swimmers for international assignments later this year.
