AS the financial situation continues to bite at Highlanders, vice-captain Nqobizitha Masuku has quit the club over outstanding salaries.
The club professed ignorance over Masuku’s departure.
The club’s vice-captain is said to have written to the chief executive officer Nhlanhla Dube terminating his contract.
Masuku confirmed that he has parted ways with Bosso although he is yet to get the club’s response.
“I, Nqobizitha Masuku do hereby terminate my contract signed December 2020 with the Highlanders Football Club having gone for almost three months without receiving the agreed remuneration under the stated time in the contract.
“Nonetheless, there has not been efforts made to rectifying the said issue since one of the club’s most important obligations towards the player is payment of wages/salaries,” part of Masuku’s resignation letter read.
He added: “As a family man, it has been and still is difficult to work under such circumstances that is going for such a period without receiving (my) dues.

“Despite that I greatly appreciate the relationship we have had from the period we were together, although the unavoidable circumstances before us have prompted us to sever ties.
“Highlanders Football Club will always be home, in any case that another opportunity arises for us to engage, I am optimistic we both are open to such in the near future.”
Masuku is the second player to quit the Bulawayo giants inside two weeks after captain and veteran goalkeeper Ariel Sibanda left the club.
Dube insists that they have not received anything official from Sibanda.
On Thursday, Dube admitted the club was in a financial fix.
“We are obviously challenged financially because of the environment and a lot of other things but those are challenges that we are making full frontal and we are going to overcome.
“Players and members of staff are important to us.
“We are trying to always make them, in terms of making sure obligations of the club are taken care of,” Dube said.
After extending a begging bowl to its stakeholders last month, the club has reportedly received US$ 8 000 from its supporters and club members.
