POLICE are concerned by the increasing of road traffic accidents along major roads and highways which are costing lives and leaving many people injured.

Zimbabwe Republic Police chief police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba said most of the accidents could be avoided.
“We are appealing to the motoring public to observe road rules and regulations,” Charamba said in a statement.
“They should exercise extreme caution when approaching roadblocks and other police checkpoints.”
She said on Monday two people died and five others were injured when a Nissan Primera collided with a Honda Ballade at the 126 km peg along Masvingo-Beitbridge road.
Charamba said in a separate accident on the same day a pedestrian died after being knocked down by a Zupco bus along Chivhu-Nyazura road while walking along the road.
She also said a police officer who was manning a roadblock on the same day along Masiyepambili Drive near Bellevue traffic lights in Bulawayo was hit by a Toyota Hilux and sustained injuries.
