THE Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa Invitational Concert and Award Ceremony (PERMICAN) 2014 held on Saturday evening at City Sports Centre were a memorable night of glitz and glamour to remember in the history of Zimbabwe.

The event was the first of its kind where the United Family International Church (UFIC) founders Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa honoured local musicians across all musical genres as they celebrated the first year anniversary of their television channel, Christ TV.
The guests looked glamorous in various evening wear outfits as they got an opportunity to get pictures taken at the red carpet into the main auditorium. Prophets Emmanuel and Ruth Makandiwa received a standing ovation coupled with cheers, clapping and ululation form the crowds as they entered the hall in their exquisite outfits.
Prophet Makandiwa wore a black designer suit and his wife was wearing a beautiful, black and gold top peplum dress with a matching gold veil hanging from behind.
The awards ceremony saw various local musicians being honoured for the role they played in the local music industry.
The artistes were awarded in three categories including Rising Star, Lead the Way and Excellence awards.
On the Rising Stars, artistes like Emelda Mudzamiri, Alex3.2, Cathy Mhlanga, Tinashe Magacha and the UFIC Choir, among others, walked away with awards.

On the Lead the Way Category, artistes that had fast risen although not yet on legendary levels were awarded and these included Shingirayi Sabeta, formerly known as Mau Mau, Munetsi Matambanadzo, Saiwe Chimbetu and Jesse Priestly, among others, also got awards.
Top local musicians who had made it over the years also received awards in the Excellence/Legendary category and these included Bethan Pasinawako, Carol Mujokoro, Willis Watafi, Kudzai Nyakudya, Kudzai Sevenzo and Vabati VaJehova.
Other popular musicians that walked away with awards in this category included Joyce Simeti, The Charambas, Charles Chipanga, Pastor G, Mathias Mhere, Mudiwa Mtandwa, Machanic Manyeruke, Prince Mafukidze, Minister Michael Mahendere and The Mahendere Brothers, among others.
The ceremony was hosted by elegant and eloquent MCs Tichafa Matambanadzo, a.k.a Tich Mataz and Kudzai Sevenzo, who also received appreciation awards.
Prophet Makandiwa and the Christ TV crew received the award of night for the supporting role in making Christ TV what it was so far at its first anniversary.
Rolex Dance Crew and Sesfikile got the opportunity to show the revellers their flexibility through their dance performances.
Performances that got the crowds screaming and applauding the most include that of Joyce Simeti, who had guest appearances of Kapfupi, Edith WeUtonga and Sulumani Chimbetu whose famous Heya Heya chant got the crowds into a frenzy, leaving them screaming for more.
Pastor G’s performance left the crowds asking for more, chanting “Pastor G, Pastor G” after his performance was over.
Africa Revenge, Sabastian Magacha and the UFIC Choir were also greatly welcomed with clapping, sing-alongs and dancing by the audiences.
However, it was Mudiwa Mtandwa who stole the show with a great and unique performance where he collaborated a couple of his most loved songs in one performance.
The crowds mainly sang and danced along to his popular track Ndaita Mari.
“Through Christ TV, we have managed to showcase the greatness of Jesus Christ to many people across the world and I am grateful to my wife for being the brains behind this,” Prophet Makandiwa said.
He added that music played a major role in the nation and it was important to appreciate and encourage local artistes.
Prophet Makandiwa added that Christ TV was there to take Christ to the nations.
He said it was also there with the aim of building a Godly society of all nations and the quickest and most effective platform of reaching out to people all over the world.
