The tour will begin at Bulawayo Theatre on March 29 to end in the last week of July. Other performances will be held in Mutare, Masvingo, Gweru, Kadoma, Victoria Falls and Harare.
Founder of the Simuka Comedy, Victor “Doc Vikela” Mpofu said the tour is intended to be “a celebration of everyday Zimbabwean life and a close scrutiny of social values, tribal and racial issues in a comic manner”.
“All the comic acts are expected to contribute to national healing through the best medicine which has been used before penicillin or juju, the medicine known only as laughter,” said Doc Vikela.
”The theme has been borrowed from Zimbabwe’s national soccer team cheer slogan “Go Warriors Go”. The decision to use a soccer theme came from the realisation that football is one sport that has united Zimbabweans through good and bad times.”
The tour will feature Doc Vikela, Ntando Van Moyo, Simba The Comic King, Charles Manase, UK-based Anopa Makaka and Q The Boss. Doc Vikela said the Simuka Comedy team has developed the tour with the aim to bring on board partnership and sponsorship with the business sector.
There will be brand promotions on most materials to be used by the Simuka Comedy on tour that include banners and stage regalia.
